What is the purpose of Craftbase?
Craftbase seeks to give opportunity for individual craftpersons to promote their work on the world wide web. Craftbase acts as a platform that networks a community of makers online. Craftbase invites the world to appreciate the the high calibre of locally produced craft.
How does Craftbase work?
Visitors to Craftbase will be able to search and view a profile of an individual craftsperson's work.
The viewer can search for profiles using the craftperson's name, medium, genre or year of the work.
What are the benefits of participating?
Craftbase is a great opportunity for craftspersons to promote their work to an audience around the world. This includes the thousands of weekly visitors to the Craft Victoria website. Craftbase acts as a platform from which craftpersons can draw audiences to their own individual websites. Craftbase networks craftpersons both locally and internationally. By uploading your work, you are supporting the growth of an appreciation of high quality craft around the world.
How do I participate?
To display your work on Craftbase, you must be a Craft Victoria professional member. Professional membership ($88 a year) allows you to receive updates and invitations to exhibitions and events, subscription to annual publications, special admission prices to lectures and seminars, support in promoting your exhibitions/events via email distribution and 10% discount at selected retail outlets (see website for more details).
Professional members will be sent out a Username and Password that allows you to LOGIN to Craftbase and upload an image of your work.
What is involved in the process of uploading my image?
To prepare your image for the web, you will need access to image-editing software (eg. Adobe Photoshop).
Two versions of your image are required in square dimensions:
i) A small thumbnail and
ii) a larger display image.
To upload your image and enter details of your work, you will need access to the internet.You may view or download a userguide from the website for more detailed instructions on how to prepare and upload the image.The uploading process involves entering your username and password into the login panel. A new screen will prompt you to select your prepared images and enter details of your work.
I do not consider myself computer savvy but I want to upload my images. What options do I have?
You may want to consider the assistance of a professional/friend who is competant with the computer, using an image editor and the internet.Craft Victoria offers assistance and technical advice regarding the preparation of images and uploading your work.

What happens once I have uploaded my image and details?
An email is sent to Craftbase administration whereby your profile will await approval. Upon approval, an email will be sent to you to confirm the publication of your profile.
How many images can I upload?
Currently, the capacity of the imagebank allows each individual to upload ONE image.
Can I change the details on my profile after I my image has been approved and published?
Yes. Login using your username and password. You are able to change your image or details at any time. Submit your profile again. You will be notified by email once updated details are approved and published by Craft Victoria.
