OVERVIEW of WHAT IS REQUIRED:

1. Username and password
2. A digital photograph of your artwork.

The image must be appropriately prepared for web publication.

Resolution: 72 dpi
Image Mode: RGB

Pixel Dimensions:

      You will need 2 versions of your image:
                i) a small thumbnail : 100 x 100px
               ii) a larger display image: 405 x 405px wide/high

File Format: JPEG (jpg)

IMAGE PREPARATION:

Use an image editor that allows you to size the dimensions and resolution of your image.

1. Prepare your image of pixel dimensions within 405 pixels wide and 405 pixels high. You should be able to do this in any image editor. Below are instructions for Adobe Photoshop.

In Adobe Photoshop:

• To open your image, go to File, Open. Select your image file.

• To change image colour mode to RGB, go to Image menu,    Mode and select RGB.

• Crop your image to square dimensions.

To do this, select the marquee tool, select ‘Fixed Aspect Ratio’ using the drop down menu to the top of your screen. Enter a ratio of 1:1. Drag the marquee tool to select a square portion of your image. Go to Image menu and select Crop.

• Go to Image menu, select Image Size

• In the Image Size menu, Select Constrain Proportions

• Resize your image to a pixel height and width of 405px.

• Save image using File, Save for Web (see step 3). Take note of    where you have saved the file.

2. Prepare your image as a square thumbnail (exactly 100 pixels high and wide) Use this newly prepared image (405x405px) and resize to 100x100px.

In Adobe Photoshop:

•  Go to Image menu, Select Image Size

•  In the Image Size menu, change width and height to 100px

•  Save image using File, Save for Web (see step 3).

•  Take note of where you have saved the file.

WEB ACCESS; INITIATE YOUR ACCOUNT:

4. Set up your account by typing in your username and password.Click Submit.

Username: Full Name (eg. Jo Bloggs)
Password: Your Craft Victoria member number.
Note: A letter notifying you of your member number will be sent to you.

UPLOAD YOUR IMAGES:

5. Fill in the required (*) fields such as Image Title, Medium, Dimensions, Year work created. This includes a Image Blurb, a 100 word paragraph outlining the information about your image.

Make sure the text is one paragraph with no breaks or dot points. Use the drop down menu to select the Type of craft displayed (Jewellery, Furniture, Art Objects etc).

The last field is optional. This allows you to insert your web address if available.

NOTE: If you experience difficulties uploading the images, check that the image’s file extension name(.jpg) is displayed in lowercase. To check this, locate your image on your hard drive (using the desktop finder or windows to view the filename and extension). Rename making sure that .jpg is displayed in lowercase.

PREVIEW AND SUBMIT YOUR RECORD:

7. Preview your record.

• Click the button, ‘Preview your record’.

The screen will display your large image followed by your name, title, dimensions, year, blurb, genre and URL (if a URL was entered). Check the details are correct.

• Click the text link, ‘Edit your record’ if you need to make changes.

This will return you to the submission form where you can re-upload a new image or make changes to any of the fields (title, dimension, year, medium, type, URL).

8. Submit your record

• Click the button ‘Submit Record to Craft Vic for approval’.

LOGOUT:

9. Click the text link, ‘Logout’ before returning to the home page.


VERIFICATION:

An email will be sent to you confirming receipt of your uploaded work. Craft Victoria administration will notify you by email whether your work has been approved for online publication.

MAKING CHANGES and RESUBMITTING your records.

It is possible to make changes after your record has been uploaded to the imagebank. Simply use you username and password to enter into the database and edit your records.
The approval process will still apply.
