PERSPECTIVE: new work by Craft Victoria Members
Curated by Joe Pascoe, CEO & Artistic Director, Craft Victoria
Craft Victoria invites its Professional Members to submit an entry for PERSPECTIVE, a curated members' exhibition held at Craft Victoria as part of the Craft Cubed festival. Entries should respond to the festival theme CITY|COUNTRY, and demonstrate quality of concept, and skill in design, production, form and function. Up to 50 works will be selected by the Artistic Director of Craft Victoria, advised by an industry panel including Mari Funaki, Director, Gallery Funaki; Meredith Turnbull, Gallery Manager/Curator, VCA Margaret Lawrence Gallery, and Simon Lloyd, designer.
2009 THEME
PERSPECTIVE provides artists with an opportunity to generate new work in response to the 2009 Craft Cubed festival theme CITY|COUNTRY. Local geographical boundaries have shifted dramatically in recent times. Populations are literally moving, profoundly affecting the environment, public space, urban planning and design. What are the ramifications of these changes in geographical composition? How is contemporary craft and design influencing new forms of spatial engagement?
APPLICATION CRITERIA
To submit an entry for PERSPECTIVE, your Craft Victoria Professional Membership must be current for the period 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010. To join or renew your membership click here or call (03) 9650 7775 during opening hours.
HOW TO ENTER
Complete the entry form online including an artist statement of up to 200 words discussing your work in relation to the festival theme CITY|COUNTRY. Then email an image of your work to perspective@craftvic.asn.au (do not send images over 1MB) with your name in the subject line. The image must be at least 500px square at 72dpi. You are strongly encouraged to provide a compelling, quality image, as it will be used in the online catalogue should your work be selected. Please note that rectangular images will be cropped square for the online catalogue.
We may also request a print-quality image (300dpi) for media opportunities.
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
The dimensions of your work must be no larger than 50 x 30 x 30 cm (h x w x d) to ensure adequate display space and maximum participation.
