PERSPECTIVE: Frequently Asked Questions

Who can submit work for PERSPECTIVE?
Craft Victoria Professional Members. Your membership must be current for the period 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010.

How do I become a Professional Member?
Join online at www.craftvic.asn.au, in person, or by calling Craft Victoria on (03) 9650 7775 during opening hours, Monday 12-5pm, Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm.

What is the deadline for submissions?
Tuesday 30 June 2009

When will the exhibition be held?
Saturday 1 August – Saturday 12 September 2009.

Where will the works be on display?
Galleries 1 and 2, Craft Victoria, 31 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

Are there size restrictions?
The dimensions of your work must be no larger than 50 x 30 x 30 cm (h x w x d).

How will the works be displayed?
Selected works will be installed on standard sized plinths and continuous wall-mounted shelves. An artist statement will be displayed with your work. There will also be an online catalogue on the Craft Victoria website.

What should be covered in my artist statement?
In no more than 200 words, discuss your work in relation to the theme CITY|COUNTRY.

Can I submit more than one entry?
You can submit up to three entries, however successful applicants will have only one work selected for the exhibition.

How will the works be selected?
Up to 50 works will be selected by the Artistic Director of Craft Victoria, advised by an industry panel including Mari Funaki, Director, Gallery Funaki; Meredith Turnbull, Gallery Manager/Curator, VCA Margaret Lawrence Gallery, and Simon Lloyd, designer. Craft Victoria’s decision is final. Selection will be based on the image of the work provided with the submission, along with the artist statement. Successful applicants will be contacted by email on Monday 13 July 2009.
