Simon Cooper
Originally from South Australia , Simon Cooper now lives and works in Sydney where he has recently completed his Master of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales.
His design approach has been strongly influenced by traditional Buddhist sculpture and he has completed artist residencies in Vietnam, India and Thailand.

Paula Dunlop
Paula Dunlop is a Brisbane-based artist and designer. She is currently undertaking a PhD at Queensland University of Technology, exploring the tension between process and product in improvised making. She releases one-off and limited production garment ranges under the label tijdelijk.
Ess.Laboratory
Ess (Experiment Surreal Style) Laboratory are interested in the tension between courture and surrealism, the artificial and the real, disfigurement and embellishment, body and air, light and shadow. Since the label's inception, there has been a common understanding in their conceptual process and execution, that there exists a friction between the substance of reality and the substance of the subconcious.
Established in 2001 by Hoshika Oshimi, Ess.Laboratory has featured in a range of collections and exhibitions around the world, including Shanghai Fashion Week, La Spleen de Paris, National Design Centre, National Gallery of Victoria, Mercedes Fashion Festival, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and regular appearances in the L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival and Cultural Program.
FORMALLYKNOWNAS
After establishing FORMALLYKNOWNAS (FKA) in 2003 as a contemporary men's and women's fashion label, Toby Whittington invented the FKA coCreator Design System in 2005.
Eleven FKA coCreators work on the collection, including an accountant, an architect, a botanist, an oyster shucker, a pattern grader, a PR consultant, a primary school teacher, a publisher, a researcher, a school student and a secondary school teacher. Each coCreator worked with Toby to create his or her own unique flavour for Toby's original Classic Cut garment designs. Using the FKA DesignMenu , coCreators chose from a fixed set of design elements, including fabric, colours, prints, pockets, panels and fasteners, to ‘remix' each garment in the collection. All FKA coCreators get a royalty from the sale of their coCreated garments and their creativity is showcased on catwalks, in galleries and in photo shoots for national magazines.
Anthea van Kopplen
Anthea van Kopplen has worked for independent Australian fashion labels Lucrecia & DeSade and Rosemary Masic whilst completing her Masters of Design from RMIT University which explored the role of sustainability within the fashion design process. In 2004/5 Anthea worked as an exhibitions coordinator and curator at the National Wool Museum in Geelong and since 2006, has brought a new focus to the development of her independent design business.
MATERIALBYPRODUCT
MATERIALBYPRODUCT is a design studio that invents fashion in the true spirit of the avant-garde, designing new ways for cutting, joining, marking, draping and tailoring cloth. The designers see themselves as designers of systems rather than garments. The materialised clothing is the by-product of these systems, hence the studio's name.
Susan Dimasi and Chantal McDonald founded MATERIALBYPRODUCT in 2002 and launched the label on the international market in 2003. The design studio currently trades out of Paris producing two Prêt-a-Porter collections per year. MATERIALBYPRODUCT collaborates on an ongoing basis with industry leading creative businesses including 3 Deep Design, fine art photographer Paul Knight, Australian fashion photographer Justin Edward John Smith, Robert Simeoni Architects, Preston Zly Shoes and local tattoo artists Ben Ross & Kat Ratcliffe to realise design house innovations.
PROJECT
PROJECT is a collaborative endeavour between Kara Baker and Shelley Lasica arising from their work on the dance project ACTION SITUATION in 1999. PROJECT operates outside the boundaries of the wholesale/retail system, using an artisanal production process. Designs are sold in season by appointment and individually made to measure. PROJECT has released thirteen collections to date and work by PROJECT has been acquired by the NGV for their Fashion and Textiles collection.
S!X
S!X was established in 1994 by Denise Sprynskyj and Peter Boyd in response to a perceived lack of originality and uncritical Eurocentrism then affecting Australian fashion design.
Their work combines traditional tailoring, dyeing and fabric manipulation techniques with the practices of recycling and deconstruction. They have been invited to exhibit in numerous national and international exhibitions, including Tokyo and Paris, and their work is in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Gallery of Australia, the Powerhouse Museum, and the Hobart Art Gallery. S!X were listed as one of Australia's most innovative designers in The Bulletins top 100 people in 2007 and were participants of The Melbourne and Milano delegation to Milan with The Lord Mayor in 2007. They currently lecture in the 4th year of Fashion at RMIT School of Architecture and Design.
